The painting Lioness is an original work created by Carol Anna Fullerton Samsel, an artist residing in Haskell, Arkansas. Artist grade acrylic paint was used to create this 16” W x 20” H piece. Paints were mixed with distilled water to eliminate the color bleaching associated with chlorinated tap water. The figure and parts of the background are protected by a layer of Lascaux Transparentlack UV-resistant varnish.
The substrate is 10 ounce, 100% cotton duck canvas that has been double‑primed with acid‑free titanium gesso. The solid pine stretcher bars were kiln-dried to reduce warpage over time.
The work was created in September of 2008, and is signed on the back.
Although UV resistant materials were utilized, all artwork is subject to deterioration over time. To increase longevity, never display the work in direct sunlight or under bright fluorescent lighting.
