The painting Mythic Bear is an original work created by Carol Anna Fullerton Samsel, an artist residing in Haskell, Arkansas.  Artist grade acrylic paint was used to create this 20” W x 16” H piece.  Paints were mixed with distilled water to eliminate the color bleaching associated with chlorinated tap water.

The substrate is 10 ounce, 100% cotton duck canvas that has been double‑primed with acid‑free titanium gesso.  The solid pine stretcher bars were kiln-dried to reduce warpage over time.

The work was created in 2008, and is signed on the back.  Accompanying the signature is the title, © Vau‑966‑548, and a Global Fine Art Registry tag (number 32417).

This work appeared in the following exhibitions:

  • South Arkansas Arts Center 2009 Annual [National] Juried Art Competition, El Dorado AR, 2009
  • Fourth Annual Diamond National Juried Exhibition, Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs, Hot Springs AR, 2008, Second Place in Category

Mythic Bear was also chosen for inclusion in the 2009 Arkansas Artist Engagement Calendar, published by the Governor’s Mansion Association in Little Rock.  Artists from across the state offered a single piece for publication and, from these, eighty-eight were selected by a panel of out‑of‑state jurors.

Although UV resistant materials were utilized, all artwork is subject to deterioration over time.  To increase longevity, never display the work in direct sunlight or under bright fluorescent lighting.
