Judge's Statement
Uta-Maria Krapf's work seems to have a heartbeat. It pulses on the canvas.
Like our own heartbeats, thoughts, and spirits, there's a pattern -- slightly irregular; never quite fitting an ordered system.
Within our bodies, minds, and the world at large there's a jumble. Elements intertwine, and then go their separate ways. Currents merge, oppose, join and flow.
Uta-Maria seems to tap into an awareness of this world beyond our immediate senses, and then translates it into a form we can enjoy.
When I look at Uta-Maria's work, I feel the essence of being alive.
